Finals Time - Come On Dunbar
The semi is done and dusted and we are now due to battle it out this Sunday for a place in the Grand Final the following week. Congratulations to everyone on making it through to the minor final. As this is the last match of the season for a couple of our players (Cat and Lu), I thought to comment on what we did to get to this day: - Dunbar wanted to establish a third team in the women’s league and did not have a coach - Andy & Erin took care of that until Mini magic took us on; - Kit, kit, kit – we mastered the sideline change of shirts and shorts to get on that pitch; - Andrea was my/our voice at committee meetings; - Rose was recruited early on (thanks Ange), so the part-time keepers could be sacked – we are so pleased we did; - Mid season transfers - we lost and also gained, happy times for all; - Gave support to other Dunbar teams along the way; - Improved skills (thanks Mini, Andy, Charlie); - Picked up a new nickname or two (The Shark, Gabbie, Lynds - thanks B, The Magnet, Angie, Angela or was it Ange); - Grew our 'human' supporter group (though we always had a strong following of the canine variety); - We were regraded into another division where we finished with the best defensive record and second best attack of the senior teams; - Supported the clubs various events and also took time to help run them - thank you to those that did; and (drum roll please) - Quite memorably won a match starting with 8 and then finishing up with 7 players.
