AA4 Away Form
As a fan of all things AA4 related I can’t help but feel a pinch a sadness that the regular season has come to an end. It is with fondness that I look back on all the teams that have gone into making AA4 the weekly football feast it has been in the 2009 season. However it is with great excitement and trepidation that I look forward to the coming finals series, with only the cream of the crop remaining.

Thought for the week, those teams with dreams of taking out the coveted title will do well to address ‘the biggest sin in football’.

The goalkeeper is the jewel in the crown and getting at him should be almost impossible. It's the biggest sin in football to make him do any work.
George Graham

It’s been a long season, and the top three have some pretty good form going into the finals. Seeing as the finals are supposed to be played on neutral territory (Heffron?!?!?) I thought we’d take a look at everyone’s away form for the season to see if that gave insight into the finals series…..

(See attached picture)

The above table shows QPR as the third best team on the road, but their home form means they won’t be playing in the finals. With that in mind, the finals series should really be a two horse race.

Let’s look to the minor and major quarter finals AA4

Olympic 2 v Coogee 0 – The above table and the form guide doesn’t lie, Coogee are not the force they were last year, and their away form show’s they don’t really know how to win on the road. Olympic on the other hand do, loosing just one on the road all season….. Olympic through to the Semi final in normal time.

Redfern 1 v Dunbar 1 – after last weeks top of the table clash, one could be forgiven for thinking Redfern have the AA4 title in the bag, but the away form table would argue otherwise. Dunbar are actually better on the road, losing one game all year and having an impressive record of conceding less than one goal a game. Redfern’s form is slightly better having not lost a game on the road all year. This is a case of best attack verses tightest defence….. I see Dunbar causing an upset beating Redfern 4-2 in penalties (1-1 full time).

Let football be your guiding light.
