THE DUNBAR DIFFERENCE IN CAMBODIA

Your support will be making a real difference to these kids' lives

Since 1991, Dunbar Rovers has always prided itself on doing things the right way, both on and off the field. That attitude has built us an enviable level of respect amongst our players, ex players, opponents, officials, sponsors and other members of our local community.

Dunbar Rovers' first official charitable initiative was established in 2008 via a partnership with the Football Project of Indochina Starfish Foundation (ISF) www.indochinastarfish.org.

The Dunbar Cambodia Cause

Dunbar supports ISF in Cambodia, who are working in a number of ways to make a real and tangible difference to the children in one of the poorest regions of the world. Dunbar sponsors an Under 14 Boys and Under 14 Girls team from Komar Rikreay (KMR) in the Battambang region. KMR provides non-institutional care and community nurturing for former street and trafficked kids. Dunbar is helping provide the community support and shared care these children long for.

The support is for the junior football coaching programme aimed at using football to develop a greater sense of confidence, teamwork and hope for these kids. Matches are played against other teams, culminating in a tournament held each March in Phnom Penh. This year our girls reached the semi final in their first year of competition.

The programme began two years ago and now provides FIFA accredited coaching twice a week for 450 kids. The programme is expanding all the time to give more children a new enjoyable dimension to their lives. In the next 2 years, Indochina Starfish is aiming to have 25 squads of boys & girls.

Dunbar have committed to a three year sponsorship of the teams who are named after Dunbar and wear our famous pink, white & blue.

Our funds go directly towards sponsoring the teams covering costs such as balls, strips, boots, bibs, cones, coach's fees, transport and field rental. Our teams have squads of 25 kids although often more participate in each training session. Dunbar Rovers' initial commitment is to support the teams for three years.

How you can help

We are looking for donations to help support this initiative. Making a contribution is simple. Make your payment by direct transfer into the account set up for the charity

• Gold level sponsorship ($250 p.a.). "I've played for Dunbar for many years. The club's been good to me and I'd like to give something worthwhile back."
• Silver level sponsorship ($100 p.a.). "I may not be a long term Dunbar player, but I love the club and approve of what they are doing here and would like to make a contribution."
• Bronze level sponsorship ($50 p.a.). "I'm a bit skint at the moment but would still like to support this cause. Maybe I'll upgrade to Silver next year."
• Mystery sponsorship (you decide the $$). "I don't like to be pigeon-holed but I will give an amount that I think is appropriate."
